Because corporate didn’t have visibility into IT assets across 10 locations, each warehouse was expected to update device inventory spreadsheets and share with corporate IT on a weekly basis. But the spreadsheets weren’t reliably accurate or up-to-date; often, corporate IT didn’t even receive them. Without proper tracking and automated reporting, IT had no way of knowing when locations needed device replenishment.

RMAs were tracked on spreadsheets and required multiple calls with the device manufacturer to complete each request. That unnecessary process complexity compounded time and labor burdens associated with RMAs.

Meanwhile, at the warehouse locations, many asset lockers held damaged or broken devices and since locations didn’t have spare pools, employees often had to exchange nonfunctioning devices with working ones.

The time-consuming device check-out processes often led to workers simply leaving devices checked in and on the work floor—so check-out and usage information wasn’t accurate, and devices were not returned and recharged appropriately. 

All together, tedious processes wasted employee time and reduced overall productivity at every location, and prevented corporate IT from being as effective as it needed to be.
